Brink was a highly caustic, violent element that destroyed whatever it touched, while some initially thought it to be a form of all elements brought together, or anti matter, these theories didn't hold up to scrutiny. It eventually was speculated that the Element was in fact a form of Chaos made manifest in reality. While this is mostly true, the more accurate definition of Brink is that it is a negative form of Quintessence generated by The Mad One, its anti matter properties stem from it having a negative charge, compared to normal existences possessing positive. It was the sheer abundance of this element that gave rise to the Realm named after it, 'The Brink'.
Characteristics[]
Brink is highly unstable, reactive, and overall, deadly. It reacts with anything that is not composed of it in colossal, violent explosions, so sensitive that novice users attempting to use it outside of a controlled environment even on a small scale usage will cause a massive explosion stemming from the element's reaction with air that could range several miles in total radius.
The element is described as glowing an intense light purple, which darkens with density, and in a stable state, which many scholars would crack a smile at the notion of such a thing, it clumps together like a thick, viscous liquid in a gravity free environment. The element defies conventional knowledge, while appearing as different states of matter, its molecular structure is inconsistent with any of them. When huge quantities condense, crystalline forms of it could be observed, a single crystal detonating could wipe out a country.
When especially dense, Brink is known to create living creatures of various types, all violently aggressive towards creatures not composed of it. In this regard, Brink is utterly incapable of coexisting with the natural world.
