The Catacombs, part of the Atlas System, are a series of mechanical support systems designed to support the continued stability of the vast rocky structure that later became Oxorin.

Origin and History[]

The Catacombs were built in response to a giant debris field converging on Gaia, the world of the Titans, who elected to make use of the debris rather than simply destroy it, which ran the risk of destroying their own world in the process. The system was first proposed by its creator, who the system was named after; Altas, and eventually approved by the rest of the Titanic Council.

Due to their advanced techniques, the construction went smoothly, but in its early stages, thoughts quickly went from merely self preservation to the terraforming process. They decided that the Catacombs would be used to bring necessary materials up to the surface to keep it enriched and capable of sustaining life.

Once the various Catacombs were fully assembled, the support systems that would rely on them to create the ridged form of Oxorin seen today were constructed, the Planetary Genesis Network. This network was a vast web of interconnected support structures akin to spiderwebs, spreading out evenly from each Catacomb. These systems also possessed billions of autonomous droids known as the Seraphic Units, which would aid in the construction of Oxorin as to ensure the debris field never had a full on collision with Gaia or the structures.

These droids would later be repurposed for maintenance, defense, and surveillance. Once the shell was being developed around Gaia, a series of artificial suns were created, keeping Gaia alive in the growing darkness. After many years of careful operation, the shell was completed, and the Titans would begin their work, eventually settling the finished terraformed landmass, though most would devolve into mortal races, while the remainder silently watched from deep beneath the world.

During the Brink Saga, the Titans were forcibly involved in the Brink Wars when the Mad One sought to finish what he started, and targeted the Catacombs. His attacks drew the retaliation of the Seraphic Units, who also struck out against the mortal races of the world, inadvertently leading to the revelation of the Titan's existence. With limited aid from the Titans, ships and defenses against the Brink were created, and parts of Oxorin were made stable once more due to repairs to the Catacomb system.

The Titans since the Brink Saga have remained isolated, having restored the Atlas System.
